1 Learn the concept
Facebook Ads is a go-to advertising option for businesses that want to target people by interests, behaviors, location and more. Because the platform knows so much about its users, you can show a message to a very specific group instead of the whole market. This lesson explains how audience targeting, ad formats and objectives fit together. Interfaces and names change, so check the current tools.
2 See it in action
- Objective: choose what you want, such as awareness, traffic or leads.
- Audience: define by location, interests and behavior, or reach your own customers.
- Creative: a clear image or video with a short message and one call to action.
- Budget and schedule: start small, then scale what works.
Worked example
A small test for a yoga studio
Objective: free trial sign-ups. Audience: people within 5 km interested in wellness.
Budget: $10 a day for 14 days is $140.
Result in the example: 14 trial sign-ups, so the cost per trial is $10.
Follow-through: 4 of the 14 join at $60 a month, so the cost per new member is $35, which one month of the $60 membership already covers.
Check: record cost per result, not just clicks, and scale only the ad that works.
3 Study an example
Example scenario
A local yoga studio targets people within a few miles who are interested in wellness, with a video of a class and an offer for a free first session. It tracks sign-ups and increases the budget on the ad that brings the most.
