1 Learn the concept
Organic social media, meaning content you post without paying, is an important part of any social strategy. Facebook is where many businesses first build an online presence. A business should have a dedicated page, separate from anyone's personal profile, with a clear name, description, profile image and contact details. This lesson explains how to set up a business presence properly so people can find and trust it.
2 See it in action
- Use a business page, not a personal profile.
- Choose a name customers will recognize and a clear profile image such as a logo.
- Complete the description, category, hours and contact details.
- Set one clear call to action button.
Worked example
Setting up a plumber's page
Name: Rivera Plumbing, Ottawa.
Category: plumber. Description: "Fast, fair-priced plumbing repairs for homes in Ottawa. Same-day callouts."
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 18:00, with an emergency number.
Button: Call now. Cover image: the van and the team in uniform.
Check: ask a friend to search the business name and tell you whether the page answers three questions: what do they do, where, and how do I reach them?
