1 Learn the concept
Without buyer personas, it would be very hard for marketers to communicate with their target audience. A buyer persona is a semi-fictional description of your ideal customer, built from research. It helps teams write, design and plan with a real person in mind. This lesson shows the steps to creating one.
2 See it in action
- Gather real data: interviews, surveys and customer records.
- Describe goals, challenges, habits and objections.
- Give the persona a name and a short story.
- Use it to guide content, offers and channels.
Worked example
Building a persona from three interviews
Interviews: three office managers say the same things: they hate long onboarding, they trust peers over ads and they worry the team will not adopt new tools.
Pattern: all three mention saving time and avoiding a messy rollout.
Persona: Busy Brenda, an office manager with a small team, wants a tool she can set up in an afternoon.
Use: the website headline becomes "Set up in an afternoon, not a month", and the sales page adds a peer testimonial about team adoption.
Check: every part of the persona should trace back to something a real customer said.
