From the lesson Work-Life Balance From Home

NameDate

Work through each step on paper or on screen. Use a real business, a project of your own or a friend’s idea. Keep this page for your portfolio.

1Write your working hours and share them with your team.

2Choose a shutdown ritual.

3Add both to your weekly planner.

Worked example to compare with: Building a shutdown ritual

  • Problem: the evening email check turns into two hours of work.
  • Ritual: at 5:30 write tomorrow's top three tasks, close all work tabs, close the laptop and put it out of sight.
  • Rule: notifications for work apps are off after 6 p.m.
  • Result to look for: more evenings that feel like evenings, and no loss of output because the next day starts with a clear list.
  • Check: keep the same time for two weeks before judging.

Check yourself
