1 Learn the concept
Job interviews are nerve-wracking mainly when you have not prepared. Preparation turns nerves into focus. In this lesson you learn how to research the employer, practice answers to common questions and avoid common interview mistakes.
2 See it in action
- Research the company, the role and the interviewers.
- Prepare short stories for common questions using situation, action and result.
- Avoid common mistakes: arriving unprepared, criticizing past employers, asking no questions.
- Prepare three questions of your own to ask them.
Worked example
Answering "Tell me about a challenge"
Situation: "Our club newsletter had low open rates."
Action: "I tested two subject lines and moved the signup button higher in the email."
Result: "Open rates rose and we added 40 new subscribers in a month."
Close: "I learned to test small changes before guessing."
Check: keep each story under two minutes and practice it aloud twice.
3 Study an example
Example scenario
A candidate asked "tell me about a challenge" answers with a story: the situation (a campaign with weak results), her action (she tested two subject lines) and the result (open rates improved). The interviewer remembers a clear example, not a general claim.
4 Apply it and download
- Write three stories from your experience in situation, action, result form.
