Hashtag list

From the lesson Creating Hashtags for Posts

NameDate

Work through each step on paper or on screen. Use a real business, a project of your own or a friend’s idea. Keep this page for your portfolio.

1Research five hashtags for your niche.

2Check what each one shows.

3Choose a small set and add them to the content calendar.

Worked example to compare with: Checking a hashtag before using it

  • Idea: #bikes.
  • Check: the tag is huge and generic, so your post disappears.
  • Better: #winterbiking and a local tag such as #ottawabikes.
  • Test: click the tag and read what appears. If it is unrelated or inappropriate, do not use it.
  • Rule: two or three well-chosen hashtags per post.

Check yourself
