Adding Content

Your website is not complete without content.

1 Learn the concept

Your website is not complete without content. In WordPress you can add two main types of content: pages, for lasting information such as About and Contact, and posts, for time-based content such as news and articles. This lesson explains the difference and how to create both well, with clear headings, images and links.

2 See it in action

  • Pages are for lasting information. Posts are for regular updates.
  • Use headings and short paragraphs for readability.
  • Add images with descriptive alt text.
  • Link related pages together.

Worked example

Building a five-page site for a dog walker

Home: who you are, where you work and a call button.

Services: the walks with prices.

About: a short story and a photo.

Reviews: three real quotes.

Contact: a form and phone number.

Check: can a visitor book within two clicks from the home page?

3 Study an example

Example scenario

A small shop creates pages for About, Products and Contact, and uses posts for news and care guides. Visitors find core information quickly and the blog brings in search traffic.

4 Apply it and download

  1. Plan your pages and posts.
  2. Write the content for your first three pages.
  3. Publish and review.
